New McLaren Sports Series Debut in Hong Kong

  • New McLaren 570S Debut at Shaw Studios, the brand launch location for McLaren Automotive in Hong Kong
  • Guest of honours host the launch with unique format and setup, redefines the new sports car market
  • First model in Sports Series with an evolution of McLaren design philosophy, presenting a greater focus on day-to-day usability and setting a new benchmark for the sports car market
  • All-new Sports Series completes the three-tier market strategy of McLaren joining the Ultimate Series and Super Series
  • Overwhelming responses has filled up pre-orders’ allocation and expected delivery in Spring 2016

Sharing the McLaren DNA in the Super Series and Ultimate Series, the first new and exciting Sports Series – McLaren 570S Coupé debuted at the New York International Auto Show in March 2015. The all-new McLaren Sports Series brings McLaren race-derived technologies and supercar driving exhilaration to the sports car market for the first time.

Today, McLaren Hong Kong returns to the Shaw Studios, where the dealership launched the brand and introduced the groundbreaking McLaren 12C in 2011, and proudly announces the arrival of new Sports Series. With a unique event format and setup at the launch party, McLaren Hong Kong invites Mr. Charles Ng, a professional racing driver and Mr Dik Kong Sang, the Editor-in-Chief of Automomo to be the guest of honours who share their driving experiences of McLaren Super Series and Sports Series including 570S, 650S and limited McLaren 675LT on the road and on the track. This is an absolutely rare opportunity to unveil a brand-new model with an unusual format and offer the audience an in-depth live discussion by professional and experienced media representative.

The 570S Coupé is the first bodystyle to be shown in the Sports Series, highlighting the latest evolution of the McLaren design philosophy that applies to the sports car segment. Its tense, ‘shrinkwrapped’ body lines and aerodynamically-optimized form marking 570S Coupé out from the competition. McLaren design team has also created a shape of beauty emphasizing on details such as the rear flying buttresses that increase downforce and enhance graceful presentation; complex door tendons that direct additional air to cool the mid-mounted V8 engine.

Designed with more focus on space and ergonomics, the new 570S Coupé offers great outward visibility and interior space for occupants in conjunction with optimized access, greater levels of stowage space and more refinement that making it becomes the most attainable and usable model to wear a McLaren badge to date and amongst the three-tier model strategy of McLaren alongside the Super Series and Ultimate Series.

Like every McLaren, the new 570S Coupé retains McLaren’s DNA on core design and dynamic focus. Powered by an evolution of 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 engine with 30 percent new components, its breathtaking performance produces a power output of 570PS (562bhp) with light weight construction to give a class leading power-to-weight ratio of 434PS per tonne. The Coupé accelerates from 0 to 100km/h (62 mph) in 3.2 seconds, while 200 km/h (124 mph) is reached in just 9.5 seconds with the pace not letting up till the car reaches a top speed of 328 km/h (204mph). Weighing as low as 1,313kg (2,895lbs), thanks in part to the unique lightweight carbon fibre MonoCell II chassis, the Sports Series is almost 150kg lighter than its closest rival.

Mr. Samuel Sun, General Manager of McLaren Hong Kong expresses, “We have received a full attention about the introduction of Sports Series. Today, we unveil the McLaren 570S Coupé at this special location with a great pleasure. The product differentiation between McLaren Ultimate Series, Super Series and Sports Series clearly defines the market demands by various customer groups. The launch of Sports Series completed our target market segment in terms of high performance. With its class-leading level of performance coupled with optimized handling characteristics and driving dynamics, it is the most stunning and captivating model you can experience in the sports car market.”

McLaren 570S Coupé has gained overwhelming responses from customers and media. Allocations for pre-orders are already filled up and its expected delivery is in the first quarter of 2016. The suggested retail price of McLaren 570S Coupé is HK$3,200,000 up.
